Oh, that's good policy

Less a political philosophy than a doomsday cult:

Boehner defended the bill in the Bloomberg interview. “Listen,” he said. “Those who have loaned us money, like in any proceeding, if you will, court proceeding, the bondholders usually get paid first. Same thing here.”

That's a BANKRUPTCY PROCEEDING he's referring to.

What the fuck is this cretin talking about? If they fail to up the debt ceiling again, the country can't pay the bondholders--or anyone else.

Now, this bozo is the stupid one, or he thinks the rest of us are, no other way about it, because no one sane with an IQ above room temperature is going to fall for that one.

Is this the "Full Faith and Credit Act"? I'd support a populist Democrat who made his central premise accusing the Republican party of siphoning off tax money to private corporations and foreign governments, just to get that accusation out there. This is basically the route they took under G.W. Bush, to support government when it contracted out to Halliburton -- and this fits perfectly with that narrative. What I don't understand is why no one actually says this, and people pretend there are two parties interested in governing, albeit with different philosophies. That other party has disappeared, and all we are left with is a criminal gang.

"Pay the Red Chinese first"
i.e., withhold money from the American economy so it is harmed as much as possible.

If Obama had proposed this, the Republicans would try him for treason.

I'm pretty sure the priority is 1) wage claims, 2) secured creditors, then 3) bondholders and other unsecured creditors. So even in his bad analogy, he's wrong.

funny, when the R's are in power, there is unlimited money for war and assorted corporate boondoggles.

But as soon as the D's take over----- OH MY GOD!!!!!!' WE'RE GOING BANKRUPT!!!!!!!!!!

It is still unclear to me after many years of considering this whether those who spout this delusional idiocy are actually stupid enough to believe it themselves, or are just trying to con the rubes....

the meme of bankruptcy on all fronts to the dems by republicans is old news, it's just always been attempted to keep it a bit more subtle. in the death throes things get ugly and blatant.

the mixed messages coming from the usa right now are confusing as the nation moves forward in incriments of equal marriage and rule of law in boston compared to rule by fear and jingoism. then there's gitmo, the manufactured and lauded economic crisis, and bible thumpers and facists saying anything they want into microphones.

the concern over the schizophrenia being seen is honest because they keep seeing it creep into their own media and governments.

no, the usa isn't leading, it's sure as hell worrying though.
