In other words, what Digby says.
Maybe it's the unexpectedly bad jobs numbers. financial reform bill. Maybe it's Europe. But whatever it is, with the jobs data today and news of rising foreclosures, it's possible that we are looking at a double dip recession. And that is very bad news in an environment in which the entire political establishment is fouling its trousers over deficits...The administration has (stupidly) allowed itself to be backed into a corner in which it can't spend now that it's thrown in with Peter Peterson and the deficit scolds.
Not just the Administration, every fucking person in the Village.
And, as noted a few days ago, these same deficit whiners, were surplus whiners at the beginning of the Bush Administration and didn't say fuck all for about half-a-dozen years.

It is all about protecting the interests of the parasitic investor class who might suffer a 1-2% decline in their vast fortunes. Fuck everybody else, you don't matter. High unemployment drives down wages and (temporarily) raises profits, which is a good thing (for them).
Exactly right.
Of course, Krugman has been right time and time again, and he even sat down with Obama at one point and made his case.
But in America, we don't listen to the smart people. We listen to the loud people.
But in America, we don't listen to the smart people. We listen to the loud people.
Umm, not exactly. We most particularly listen to rich people. (This doesn't ignore or preclude that the rich employ loud people to further their interests.)
In America, we think the rich people are the smart people. It's sort of a variant on the "greed is a virtue" theme.
The administration has (stupidly) allowed itself to be backed into a corner
stupidly? it's by design. look whose running the helm: larry summers. don't let them dodge responsibility by feigning incompetence.

Oh, horseshit.
Question: Will digby ever give up her Chicken Little Act?
Answer: When she permanently turns off cable news, i.e., never.
