Rich...rich with stupid irony

A George Bush appointed Federal Judge in Nevada ruled the state can limit marriage to heterosexuals based on this logic:

it is conceivable that a meaningful percentage of heterosexual persons would cease to value the civil institution as highly as they previously had and hence enter into it less frequently, opting for purely private ceremonies, if any, whether religious or secular, but in any case without civil sanction, because they no longer wish to be associated with the civil institution as redefined,

Again, this is from a Judge in NEVADA home of world's most sanctified drunken spur of the moment weddings.  Truly the place where heterosexuals are famous for valuing the civil institution highly.

In conjugation, the DNA recipient is transformed into a donor. That explains why Mormons need multiple wives.

This is a state whose 20th century economy was actually built on quicky divorces. The mines were playing out and the state was losing population when they hit on the happy expedient of liberal divorce laws. At a time when every other state required long intervals of separation (a year or more), plus proof of adultery or other malfeasance, Nevada adopted the quicky divorce (OK, six months). Hotels sprung up to accommodate the trade, which soared when Mary Pickford took up residence in divorcing Douglas Fairbanks. When word came that Kansas might match them, Nevada dropped the waiting period to three months. As states liberalized divorce laws, Nevada began looking for another way to exploit the prudery of other states and settled on gambling (and prostitution).

And, of course, the quickie marriage industry supported the quickie divorce industry.

Until the state of Nevada discovered the limitless well of money that is the US Treasury (Area 51, the Nellis Gunnery Range, Nevada Test Site, Nellis AFB, Creech AFB, Yucca Flats, etc., etc., etc.).
