Dumbass writing dumbassedly

Gregg Easterbrook has spent untold amounts of column-space tweaking scientist...so his example of how to do it?

What if there was civilization on Venus an ego ago, a civilization that either evolved into a higher form or fell extinct? A billion years later, there is no trace remaining.

Or perhaps far in the past, a civilization on Venus escaped the malfunctioning of its environment by seeding life here, the next planet outward from the sun. So far there's no clue about how terrestrial life began. Darwinian evolution suggests how organisms that already exist form new species, but Darwin was silent on what created life. Microbes came into being nearly 4 billion years ago, but complex animal life appears to have begun relatively rapidly between 530 and 570 million years ago.

Maybe that was the time a Venusian civilization was dying. Maybe we find no clues of the origin of complex biology here because this process began on Venus.

Or perhaps you are a fucking hack who has no idea what the fuck you are saying?

Easterbrook + ...complex animal life appears to have begun relatively rapidly between 530 and 570 million years ago.

He doesn't even read the article that he links to right. Earliest complex life is first known in the late Precambrian Ediacaran (~635-542 million years ago) time period preceding the Phanerozoic Cambrian period (~542-488 million years ago).

Even the article that doofus links to indicates that more-complex (than bacteria & algae)life was around 600 million years ago.

What he is referring to is a rapid expansion of more complex life forms into various niches following global glaciation (commonly called the Cambrian "explosion" - a small amount of time relative to the age of the earth).

More complex multicellular & larger life forms appear and expand over a period of approximately 140 million years. A fair amount of time in the scheme of things.

Occam's Razor supports this premise.

Let's see, a super advanced civilization decided to seed life here as bacteria. They must have been having a bad day.

I prefer the Doctor Who episode which premises that life was seeded on earth when a space ship from an advanced civilization exploded due to a malfunction.
