How Poor is Broadcast News?

So poor that the Television Critics Association decided to give Comedy Central's "The Daily Show" - a comedy series - the award for best news and information program Saturday night.

Now I love the Daily Show, it is brilliantly written and executed. However, the fact it beat out what are supposed to be legitimate news & information programs on major broadcast and cable news networks says a lot.

News executives, namely CBS News President Andrew Hayward, were upset about given the award to a news program that gloriously admits it is a fake news program.

But what Hayward and others have to realize is that giving the award to the Daily Show is more than just a recognition of how good that program is, it is an indictment of how poorly the Broadcast Media is serving its constituency, the public.
