"Pay attention to ME!"

North Korea apparently feels the world was insufficiently shaken by its threat to launch a nuclear war before the UN voted to strengthen sanctions against them last week.  Because not enough attention was paid, another threat was needed.
North Korea on Monday canceled the armistice agreement that nearly 60 years ago brought a cease-fire to the Korean War...

The move, reported by the official Rodong Sinmun newspaper, was anticipated – Pyongyang had said last week that it intended to do so in the wake of new United Nations’ sanctions over its nuclear weapons program. But the ramifications of the development – the papers cited a military spokesman as saying the armistice had been “scrapped completely” – are far from clear.
So another day another threat, oh they went and disconnected their "hotline" to South Korea.

I guess they didn't like the new sanctions that even China joined in upon.

Who knows what Diva behavior may follow tomorrow...more if we're lucky, because they have done a few things in the past that are very destructive.

Who do they think they are, us?

There’s been some kind of North Korean military provocation shortly after every South Korean presidential inauguration since 1992. Park Geun-hye, daughter of former dictator Park Chung-hee, was sworn in as ROK president two weeks ago.

So, we gots a test of wills with two new leaders.
We gots the start of two weeks of US/ROK military Exercise Key Resolve.
We gots UN economic sanctions denying Pyongyang access to foreign currency, supported by China.

Economic pressure, in theory, is supposed to lead to cusp moments like this. The problem is the effects of pressure aren’t predictable.

I’m not looking for a sea of fire, but there just might be a hot time in the old town tonight. Minimalist response would be another missile test. The jackpots go up from there.

Comfort levels aside, there is little in this corporate world to deny the effects of such pompousness. We have our new distraction and that is all that it is.
This playbook is all but played out, yet we succumb to its false inventiveness every single time.
I am beginning to lose hope in hope.
