Remember the last decade, when BP was running ads about how awesomely green they were? It was almost as if they believed in global warming and massive off-shore oil drilling.
Well, all those years of propaganda and allowing people like Bill Kristol to spew BS without penalty were finally paying off, just a few weeks ago Gallup claimed:
Americans are more likely to say the U.S. should prioritize development of energy supplies than to say it should prioritize protecting the environment, the first time more have favored energy production over environmental protection in this question's 10-year history.
Oh how nice, welcome to your oily Chernobyl America:
Federal officials are considering a number of high-risk and high-reward options to cap the runaway oil well in the Gulf...
The report warned that "if the riser pipe deteriorates further, the flow could become unchecked." That could release millions of gallons of oil per day instead of the 210,000-gallon current estimate.
And while those efforts include BP putting a large dome over the leaking pipe (is Russ Cargill involved?) the company has been engaged in other high priority matters:
British Petroleum has withdrawn one of its waiver forms after fishermen in Venice, a town bracing for the arrival of an oil slick from the company's leaking rig, complained BP was trying to “pull the wool over our eyes” by asking them to sign away all rights to sue.

We made this choice thirty years ago. My fellow Americans, it's time to strap the ball gag firmly in place, make sure the spiked collar's on good and tight, and "lie back and think of Reagan".
ditto.
if we could get off whale oil, we can get off crude.
