Because he's into that kind of thing, I guess

Some folks really must think God is a real asshole:

At the final debate in the Indiana Senate race, held Tuesday night, Republican nominee Richard Mourdock explained his opposition to abortion in the cases of rape or incest. In the course of the explanation Mourdock suggested that rape should not be an exception to a ban on abortion, since rape pregnancies are themselves the will of God.

Now, I'm not a religious person, but one would think the message of Christianity is supposed to be  God's Love, not God's non-consensual sexual assaults are par for the course. What do you think Mourdock:

And even when life begins in that horrible situation of rape, that it is something that God intended to happen."

Ugh.

Umm, a quick scan of the Old Testament pretty much proves that the God of the Abrahamic religions is a vengeful sociopath, but more to the point, it's assholes like Mourdock that believe they are made in God's image, which, interestingly, is a sort of validation of the Old Testament view of God.

None of which is remotely a qualification for high national office.

The greatest blasphemy is to claim to know the will of God.

To think that in Afghanistan we are fighting people because they hold convictions like that.

To avoid making stupid remarks like this, serious theologians invented theodicy.

It is very hard to believe that Gawd intended Richard Mourdock to happen. I guess Gawd was drunk at the time.
