Behold, the Conservative Mind

I knew we could find some right-wing asshole who hated Sesame Street -- and in a completely unshocking turn of events it is National Review writer Mark Steyn:

Unlike Mitt, I loathe Sesame Street. It bears primary responsibility for what the Canadian blogger Binky calls the de-monsterization of childhood — the idea that there are no evil monsters out there at the edges of the map, just shaggy creatures who look a little funny and can sometimes be a bit grouchy about it...

That's right folks, if your child is not TERRIFIED of imaginary things YOU ARE A FAILURE AS A PARENT.

Oh, it gets more ridiculous:

That is not unrelated to the infantilization of our society. Marinate three generations of Americans in that pabulum and it's no surprise you wind up with unprotected diplomats dragged to their deaths from their "safe house" in Benghazi.
 Uh...come again?

That does seem...just a tad...to be a stretch.

Being terrified of bogeymen...yup, that would be an important feature for a future wing nut... Gotta get 'em started early.

Fear of imaginary monsters and the demonization of the other is the heart and soul of conservatism. Of course he hates Sesame Street

Mark Steyn, Canada's Hemorrhoid. As a Canadian, all I can offer are my apologies.

that's ridiculous, you can't marinate anything with pabulum. you have to use some kind of marinade!

Given that Mark Steyn's entire schtick is trying to scare people with dusky foreign bogeymen, I'd chalk this up to simple economic self-interest instead of stupidity.

Steyn is Canada's most toxic export until the Keystone XL pipeline is rammed through.
