Of course he did

I understand that Mitt Romney made all manner of promises to the Log Cabin no sense of self-respect Republicans the other day -- that he'd end all forms of anti-gay laws. Of course they are saps.
It seemed like a minor adjustment. To comply with the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court ruling that legalized gay marriage in 2003, the state Registry of Vital Records and Statistics said it needed to revise its birth certificate forms for babies born to same-sex couples. The box for “father” would be relabeled “father or second parent,’’ reflecting the new law. But to then-Governor Mitt Romney, who opposed child-rearing by gay couples, the proposal symbolized unacceptable changes in traditional family structures. He rejected the Registry of Vital Records plan and insisted that his top legal staff individually review the circumstances of every birth to same-sex parents. Only after winning approval from Romney’s lawyers could hospital officials and town clerks across the state be permitted to cross out by hand the word “father’’ on individual birth certificates, and then write in “second parent,’’ in ink.
So he was a prick just...because.

The LCRs have long been a delusional bunch--they consistently see all of the bigotry as necessary politicking by their party, and that, wink, wink, all of the wretchedness and stink doesn't really apply to them, because, hey, they're Republicans, too.

Dumbfucks.

I'm so confused... Here I thought conservatives strongly believed in "individual rights"...

but mysteriously, it seems that to conservatives, "some" individuals just aren't quite as deserving of rights as "others"...?

Remind me again, conservatives, what principles you actually stand for...?

And it was not just being a dick to the parents - the full article points out that the kids are likely to have problems later in life because nobody is going to simply accept handwritten birth certificates issued by an allegedly first-world nation in the 21st century.

Malacylpse got it right.

Did they clear this with Orly Taitz to see if hand-edited birth certificates (the long form, of course) were acceptable to real 'Mericans?

Just because he's a Mormon. The LDS church has a history of authoritarian petty assholery like this on social issues.
