Champollion On Bobo On the Newshour On Big Dick Cheney

It has been so all over the blogosphere I had nothing to add to the debate. Until now. Jim Lehrer was doing his ususal schtick with Mark Shields and Bobo when he asked them about Cheney's comments to Imus about Iran.

"Well, one of the concerns people have is that Israel might do it without being asked," Mr. Cheney said. "If, in fact, the Israelis became convinced the Iranians had a significant nuclear capability, given the fact that Iran has a stated policy that their objective is the destruction of Israel, the Israelis might well decide to act first, and let the rest of the world worry about cleaning up the diplomatic mess afterwards."

"We don't want a war in the Middle East, if we can avoid it," he said. "In the case of the Iranian situation, I think everybody would be best suited or best treated and dealt with if we could deal with it diplomatically."

Sometimes Brooks says the darndest things. On what was Cheney thinking, Brooks had this to say (nearly verbatim): I've been on Imus. Imus is cool. That's just Cheney going on Imus and letting out his "inner gonzo".

I'm not sure I've ever been a kewl kat like that Brooks so maybe I just don't get what is an "inner gonzo" but WTF? And Cheney? Letting his hair down? He IS the grim reaper. I don't wanna see no inner gonzo of that dude.
