Disturbing

First Draft, as far as I know had this story linked up first, now Atrios and Gilliard to name a couple others have put it up as well.

From the NY Times:

Less than two years after it was plunged into a rape scandal, the Air Force Academy is scrambling to address complaints that evangelical Christians wield so much influence at the school that anti-Semitism and other forms of religious harassment have become pervasive.

There have been 55 complaints of religious discrimination at the academy in the past four years, including cases in which a Jewish cadet was told the Holocaust was revenge for the death of Jesus and another was called a Christ killer by a fellow cadet.

Now, I have heard from others that the Air Force Academy was like this...well that it was attended by an unbelievably high number of evangelicals, not that it was so rife with anti-semitism (though one probably could have guessed). The Academy has been hit with a number of embarassments in the last few years...here's another.

Meanwhile, contemplate the fact of this heavy tilt toward evangelicals and the fact that the American Air Force is the place where theoretically you can be trained to kill people with bombs that you NEVER have to see in all likelihood. A gross generalization sure, but not without merit.

Anti-septic killing, perfect place for a lover of Bush.
