Ya know, that makes my stomach hurt. During election coverage, I think Jon Stewart said at one point that Romney had officially won the Confederate vote.
I live in Atlanta, and I get the point that the south is backward. But I think there is another reason for it, which I'll discuss next week at my sucky blog, danablankenhorn.com
Interesting that Idaho was one of the "segregation prohibited" states in 1950. I seriously doubt they would choose such legislation today (if it were still determined by each state).
