I mean the GOP has shown us over the years it is nothing if not completely cynical. But this time I'm sure they aren't -- and also my tinfoil hat just came in.
Until recently, Rubio has not shown much interest in immigration reform.
But in the last few months he has cast himself as a leader on the
issue, seen as a crucial one for Republicans after their poor showing
with Latinos in the 2012 elections.
All the browns are the same to the GOP. It's the same mentality that thought they'd pick up all the Hillary-leaning PUMAs by running Sarah Palin as VP.
I think they'll be rudely surprised to find how little affinity people of Mexican and Central American origins have for a Cuban-American.

Seems that GOP interpretations of "optics" haven't changed much since the advent of color television.
