No Academic Freedom in Florida

If all goes as planned in the Florida House and Senate, academic freedom ends July 1, 2005. A current bill circulating in the Florida House will shred academic freedom.

The so-called Academic Bill of Rights-Bill 837, brainchild of David Horowitz and sponsored by the Heritage Foundation, under the guise of protecting academic freedom, is headed at sonic speed into our classrooms. If this bill passes, and it is sure looks like it will pass unless we do something to prevent it!

This bill gives students the right to sue their instructors if they aren't happy with what they are taught or the grade they receive. Take a look!

If this bill succeeds, no one will have time to teach or publish or do anything productive, all teachers will be calling lawyers to make sure that they didn't offend anyone with a controversial "idea." How long before this goes further?
