Air 'Murica

Speaking of the Fedora Boy, last week he trumpeted "Air America's" ratings vis-a-vis WABC the conservative-talk flagship in New York. Without breaking down demographics this is what floppy wrote:

MID-DAYS NYC: LIMBAUGH 4.8 SHARE [WABC] SMASHES 'AIR AMERICA' 1.7 SHARE [WLIB] IN ALL LISTENERS [12+]...

'AIR AMERICA' FADES MONTH TO MONTH...

What he failed to do is note this fact from the ratings.

First that 12+ means people older than 12, which includes people 65 plus.

The most coveted demo in radio is 25-54. That is how advertising rates are largely determined -- and during the afternoons 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. here is how "Air America" is actually doing:

25-54 10am-3pm: WABC 2.7 WLIB 2.2

Further, according to Daily Kos (again, a great site but not nearly as topical as "Hourly Kos"), Air America's ratings across the board are solid. In the evening the ratings are this:

Darn good news. Majority Report is the #1 talk radio show in the 25-54 demographic in NYC for its time slot.
Majority Report: 2.9
WABC: 2.7
WOR: 1.2
Who does WOR feature in that time slot? Savage and Laura Ingraham.
Air America came in as the second-highest-ranked talk network in NYC across the board.

I'd like to congratulate my pretend wife Janeane Garofalo on her ratings success.

Considering that WLIB switched from a 'Calypso Music' format to go to liberal talk that's pretty damn good.
