Get the feeling you could just cut and paste the names

And you'd have the same flat-footed response we're having in Egypt?

So Carter lost Iran?

A great example of the danger of inertia and blindly accepting the status quo. This was slightly worse since Carter went there for some stupid 'celebration' of the Shah's place in a supposedly 2000 year old dynasty. Thanks too CIA.

Biden is an inept neolib imperialist, just short of neocon evil status. Yesterday (check the transcript) Lehrer asked him if Mubarek was a dictator. Biden answered in essence "he can manipulate elections and jail opponents, but if he co-operates with Israel, signs peace treaties against the will of his people, and works to weaken Palestinian resistance, he's not a dictator."

Two points: there's a huge bias among pundits and bloggers for action -- just do something, anything! Sometimes, though, the wise course really is to wait and see.

Second: If we accept that the West needs to Do Something, then what should we do? I haven't heard anything useful in this regard from either the left or the right.

can we do something here to end the repressive NRA control of America instead of letting the Eygptian/Tunisia/arab world uprising distract us?
We have streets too we could raise our voices in.

Have a look in the mirror. Control and repression appears to be your personal mantra, Vox.

For instance your wishes to repress others' by controlling their Constitutional rights to possess firearms.
Your controlling, leftist extremist ilk caused the murders of over 100 million people in the 20th century.
