Many layers of fail

How many layers of fail is the Iraq invasion and occupation onion going to have?

The Defense Department is unable to properly account for $8.7 billion out of $9.1 billion in Iraqi oil revenue entrusted to it between 2004 and 2007, according to a newly released audit that underscores a pattern of poor record-keeping during the war.

Of that amount, the military failed to provide any records at all for $2.6 billion in purported reconstruction expenditure...

Hey, they can account for a whopping 4% of revenue. But you have to concede, that's a lot better than the percentage of WMD they found to justifying the whole enterprise to begin with.

Though there is no apparent evidence of fraud...

As the 0% of WMD ever found clearly shows...it certainly shows something.

Since we’ve been bringing home one division every month since February 2009, we now have negative one division in Iraq. Mission accomplished.

heh/ The main layer of fail was the defeatist layer.
Defeatists failed to get their way as the US led coalition and the Iraqi people have decisively won. The anti-American fifth column is long past the stage where they became desperately shrill, as it became increasingly obvious that America had won. Won, yet again.
Now, with the defeatists wallowing in yet another loss they point to conspiracy theories as per revenue streams, (as Attaturk has done here.)

"0% of WMD" is a false statement. The motherlode of the WMD weren't found but some definite WMD were found both before and after the invasion.

Cling mightily to your delusions OnA. They're all you have left and will comfort you in your old age.

Although I too clearly remember the giant stock piles of sand (in the area around Tikrit and Baghdad and east, west, south and north somewhat) that when heated with all that sweet Iraqi crude could be turned into weapons grade glass and silicon. If only we had inspectors on the ground before the war started, we would have known about all this sand and oil.

We won? What did we win?

Apparently when O&A said we did, zuzu.

"The anti-American fifth column..." blah blah blah.

OnA might want to look into the etymology of 'fifth-column' as it originally applied Trotskyites in the Soviet Era. Interestingly, the Trotskyites ~here~ in the United States were lead by Irving Kristol, Norman Podhoretz, et al in the 1960s. These Trotskyites were close to the expansionist military policies that mired the nation in Vietnam and when the Johnson administration failed (their Democratic power base) they remade themselves as 'Neoconservatives'; appealing to the GOP 'Southern Strategy' (that's code for racism in electoral politics, OnA) and the militaristic economics of Reagan.

From a historical perspective, the 'Fifth Columnists' that OnA so despises are actually empowered Neocons that have promoted and enabled the falsely justified war in Iraq. They are nothing more than amoral cowards and opportunists.

$9 billion missing? Huh. That's a lot of treasure, and blood, so cowards like Olives can feel like a big powerful wanker.

Anti-semitic bigotry? Well that's a nice fat red herring thrown out by the BPD troll.

OnAn, your attempt to obfuscate and distract using smears is disgusting.

Mr. Hedley Bowes said...

DanF, when OnA resorts to fabricating inferences that smear others as 'anti-Semitic' and then throws in links to the arch-libertarian misanthrope known as 'GK' we know that the troll's desperation level is pegged in the red.

OnA: You're holding all deuces! You win!

I might be way off base here, but I'd think that not being able to find 8.7 Billion Dollars might suggest some kind of shenanigans.

// " The following five points support the declaration of victory:

1) US troop deaths are very low
2) Iraqi deaths are low
3) The political process is stable
4) The Iraqi economy is booming
5) US public opinion has turned around

These five dimensions of victory are comprehensive, and at this point, irreversible. This sends anti-American fifth-columnists (8-10% of the US population) and Euro-leftists into apoplectic, writhing agony.

Yay! FEWER deaths! But still more than before we invaded!

Okay, it's not, you know, the surrender of Berlin and Tokyo, but if that's what we call a win these days, I guess that's the best we can do, right?

Also, shame about the fact that Iraqi women who could walk around freely before we came in to liberate them now have to wear hijab or be shot/raped/beaten by self-appointed morality police, but if you say that's victory, that's victory!

"...Hedley after he was caught in his full display of vile anti-Semitism"

Full display of what?

Olives, you inferred that my comment was anti-Semitic only after -you- pointed out that the neoCons mentioned are all Jewish. I did not make any suggestion or inference based on race or nationality. Your inference is rather a projection. What anti-Semitism do you harbor that would make such a connection?

Want to see a vile display? Pull your head out and look in a mirror.

Mr. Hedley Bowes said...

I mentioned 3 people. Self described neo-cons, former Trotskyites. You identified them as Jewish. You're doing the race baiting here.

Your tactics are vile and specious.

Olives and Arrows, your behavior, your race baiting, your smear tactics are intolerable. I am not going to be put in a situation of defending myself against false accusations of 'anti-Semitism' by you. Nor do I need to have anyone else come to my defense to prove that you are engaging in cybersmear or other crimes.

With God's grace your days here are numbered.
