Off to the Yacht Races!

Look who's "getting his life back":

After a weekend of detailed negotiations over Mr Hayward's severance package, it now appears almost certain that he will announce his departure ahead of BP's half year results on Tuesday.

So, how far into the 8-figures will Tony's golden parachute end up being?

Heckuva job.

Hayward should apply for American citizenship as soon as possible. He'd be a natural as a Republican senatorial candidate in 2012.

honestly, i think too blame is laid at his feet. granted, i don't think he's worth remotely as much as "what the powers that be" deem, but i still can't find it myself to blame him entirely for what happened. there's a myriad of factors that went into this failure...and in many ways, people like hayward are products of that system. i guess i'm making "a chicken and the egg" statement here, but i do feel sympathy for the guy as a human...yet as a businessman, he can kiss my ass.

It took a week to get through Hayward's pay package because they had to clean the oil off first.

BP has been a 'walking' time-bomb for years. Tony has apparently been off sailing the entire time. That's leadership?

I'm guessing 9 or 10-figures, maybe more.

Someone has to take a fall, but fortunately these golden parachutes help avoid falling on the sword.

He should have the same retirement package that was awarded to Nicolae and Elena Ceausescu.

I don't want to read anything about Hayward and severance unless they're talking about his head.
