My Glenn Beck barometer is broken

Is portraying Thomas Jefferson as an asshole that invades your garden party, declares himself a genius, and takes your side-dishes patriotic?

Since most of the Tea Party, including Field Marshall Beck, wrap their movement around the God of the Jewish and Christian Bibles, Jefferson is anathema and his diminishment and marginalization is necessary.

Jefferson (the Deist, Epicurean, religious tolerance-agitator, and Jesus-as-moral-philosopher-not-deity promoter), as an intellectual force in the philosophical and legal grounding of the nation is quite contrary to establishing that the Christian God/Bible and the Ten Commandments are the basis of our law and nationhood.

If they can't make him Christian (though they've tried) then he must be relegated to the ash bin of history. I believe that Stalin was also fond of similar demotional methodologies.

Typical Beckistanian M.O.; rail against Stalin while adopting the Stalin tactics.

From Jefferson's Virginia Statute of Religious Freedom (1777)

...Be it enacted by General Assembly that no man shall be compelled to frequent or support any religious worship, place, or ministry whatsoever, nor shall be enforced, restrained, molested, or burthened in his body or goods, nor shall otherwise suffer on account of his religious opinions or belief, but that all men shall be free to profess, and by argument to maintain, their opinions in matters of Religion, and that the same shall in no wise diminish, enlarge or affect their civil capacities.

This is exactly the opposite of what the Becktonian Tea Party is trying to do, which is to diminish the civil authority to protect all of its its citizens from non-governmental (private) coercion and to re-establish Christianity's historic coercive ability to shape our society and culture.

Oh yeah, Happy Independence Celebration Day and a grand huzzah for Tom Jefferson, the rest of the revolutionary boys and to the women that made it all possible. May their greater wisdom continue to be realized and implemented, regardless of how the Beckonauts try to prevent it.

A commenter at Slactivist posted this link. It's an article about the Declaration of Independence and the Founders, specially Thomas Jefferson. It's very good.

Ah, well, David Barton is Beck's new BFF, and it was Barton who was called in by the Texas School Board textbook committee as an "expert" witness to pass on all sorts of flim-flammery about all the Founders being just as Christian as Jerry Falwell.

Since that committee made Jefferson an unperson, there's a clear trail of evidence that all this is due to Barton's influence.

Then again, it's no surprise whatsoever that Beck would depend upon a demonstrated liar and fabricator for support....

Beck is only a threat to himself and his own little beck and call beckmeisters.
Paying him heed is much more than his ilk merits.
