Yes, they are so pro-woman

Wisconsin GOP candidate Tommy Thompson, who normally has his son say the dumb stuff, has a very "quaint" excuse for needing to go out and be a "lobbyist" -- it's his wife's fault:
So I left. I left the government after four years, after George Bush got elected the second time. And my wife likes to shop. Okay? And she said, "you know, Tommy, you have been in politics for 38 years. Why don't you go out and see if you can make some decent money so I can go shopping without having to put everything on a credit card.

"...so I can go shopping without having to put everything on a credit card."

A lot of pikers would have gone with the tried and true, "Let them eat cake."

But, this is real down-home, dyed-in-the-wool Heartland bullshit gibberish.

I wonder how many of these people can't afford to go shopping even with a credit card. I guess he's hoping that they don't carry the thinking that far.

Another one of those caught on tape moments when some old white guy says what he thinks out loud and sounds like an old out of touch white guy.

Points for honesty? Although passing the buck for his greed onto his wife is shitty.

What? He didn't get rich in government? He must have been really ethical.
