These people are antisocial psychopaths. Providing security? Really? How many churches/synagogues have been attacked* except by right-wing Chistianists like Scott Roeder (Tiller murderer) or Christian-identifying white supremacists? And, in the south they used dynamite. Do the people pushing this really think there's a need to protect themselves from their bretheren?
The people that would really need to arm themselves for self defense are abortion clinic providers - I'm sure the backers of this would not be sympathetic, however.
*in the case of dastardly spray painters and gravestone tippers, defense by hand gun might be a little disproportionate - I'll have to consult Jesus......yes, disproportionate.
