There are probably some "churches" in the US that burn books from time to time; even holy books. In fact, the Fred Phelps idiots were upset because they've been burning Korans for awhile now, and no one has paid attention. Religious zealots are religious zealots, and ignorant people will commit ignorant acts. We have certain freedoms of expression in this country and I don't think that was being debated. It was the media coverage of Jones that brought the whole thing to insane levels, amping up the hatred that had already been turned up full volume. People questioned the responsibility of media's response and Mr Cohen doesn't seem to mention that at all.
In Cohen's latest vomitus, comes this glib little analysis:
For CNN will call again or the "Today" show will run out of missing white girls and Jones will again feel compelled to burn someone else's holy book ..."
I'm sure all the families and friends of missing white girls everywhere are saying, "Hey, putz! What did we ever do to you?"
i loved how media (and republicans) blamed obama and petraeus for raising terry jones' profile.
yeah, it was obama who fanned anti-muslim sentiment into an raging inferno.
while accusing the imam who was trying to help him of being a liar was a low blow and added insult to injury, in terry jones' last couple of interviews, he looked overwhelmed and befuddled or shocked to have garnered so much attention. wonder if this experience changed him or caused him to reevaluate some things.

I suspect Cohen thought the same of the Vietnamese whose country we were occupying all those many decades ago....
Call Mr. Cohen a pleasant-tempered imperialist....
