Handing the reigns over to your offspring just isn't done in this day and age. You're supposed to buy him an election if you want to hand a country over to him. Or, failing that, have some third party offer him the job of ruling the country.
Appearances are important. Flaunting your privilege in a too-obvious manner is just gauche.

sure cuts down on the expense and bother of conducting elections bot and paid for by corpoarations anyway.
