A long-standing non-bragged about tradition of warfare

Atrocities by soldiers are nothing new in war, including from American soldiers -- but the fact that this occurs is never really contemplated at the time wars start, or in the open reflexive praise we are supposed to give to our arms -- and never utter the dark stain of what making a killing machine sometimes entails. The xenophobia of never serving Newt Gingrich is the prototypical American asshole.

A group of US soldiers is facing accusations of randomly targeting and killing Afghan civilians for sport, The Washington Post reported Sunday.

Add a broken Army to the long list of Bush/Republican Missions Accomplished. Heckuva job, Georgie.

Newt Gingrich needs to be stripped naked, smeared in bacon grease and dropped in the middle of the Bob Marshall Wilderness, The Bob is over a million acres of roadless wilderness and home to the largest population of grizzly bears in the lower 48, as well as assorted pumas, black bears, wolves, real wolverines, and moose (moose are large and mean). Did I mention that grizzlies LOVE bacon?

See, OnAn, this is just another example of why, you know, responsible adults oppose going to war unless there's a damn good reason... cause stuff just like this often happens when you take a bunch of heavily-armed adolescents who may harbor racist attitudes and put them under a lot of stress in a foreign country.

In the Vietname war, it was the My Lai massacre. And as a US citizen, I just hope this doesn't turn out to be a fraction as bad as that was.

PS Oh, yeah, my wife and I have a joint income of over a hundred thou per year... so if you earn thirty or forty times that much annually, I guess you must be another one of those many, many multi-millionaires who spend their luxurious days trolling leftwing blogs...?

Notice this?
From today's Washington Post:

"According to charging documents, an Afghan named Gul Mudin began walking toward the soldiers. As he approached, Cpl. Jeremy N. Morlock, 22, of WASILLA, ALASKA, threw the grenade on the ground, records show, to create the illusion that the soldiers were under attack."
